Important Note regarding Insulin Pumps and Aquapac's case

Aquapac have commissioned research by Imperial College London into the use of the 158 (Insulin Pump case) and 558 (Connected Electronics case) after receiving a large number of customer enquiries regarding their suitablity for use with insulin pumps. Results show that, in some circumstances, insulin flow rate can be reduced by the case. In particular, low flow rates are impeded, and as such Aquapac can make no claim regarding the suitablity of these cases with insulin pumps. Use of these cases with insulin pumps is entirely at the discretion of the user.

Aquapac has been advised to recommend that users of Aquapac cases with insulin pumps regularly check their blood sugar levels.

The tests were conducted by Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine using a Roche Accu-Check Spirit insulin pump at a temperature of 20C at flow rates of 2U/hr and 10U/hr. The amounts of insulin delivered over 60 minutes observed were as follows:

2U/hr not in a case - 0.0131g (flow rate of 100%)
2U/hr in Aquapac 150 - 0.0106g (flow rate of 81%)
2U/hr in Aquapac 150 - 0.0056g (2nd test model)(flow rate of 42%)
2U/hr in Aquapac 550 - 0.0121g (flow rate 92%)

10U/hr not in case - 0.0864g (flow rate of 100%)
10U/hr in Aquapac 150 - 0.0878g (flow rate of 100%)
10U/hr in Aquapac 550 - 0.0903g (flow rate of 100%)

Review by Greg Chason, USA, added 27/08/2014: Just wanted to shoot you a line on how great your product is
Just wanted to shoot you a line on how great your product is. I just recently found out about the Aquapac and used it for the first time a couple of days ago. this was the first time in over 20 years that I have been in a water park, and I had forgotten how much I loved them. Your pack for insulin pumps stayed dry the entire time, even with water pouring directly at it. This gives me the courage to now try some light (beginner runs) white water rafting with my son and his scout troop. thanks for the addition in freedom.
Review by Children with Diabetes Forum, added 21/06/2013: pump has not gotten wet at all
Love it! My son has worn if for two days now at the beach. He is a maniac in the water. His pump has not gotten wet at all in the pack. He laid in the ocean. He got wiped out by waves. Not one drop of water in the pack. It is kind off bulky but he doesn't care. I was able to see through the pack and see his sensor numbers too. His numbers were great since he snacked while playing. I will try to attach some pictures. The pack is on his back.
It cost me about 65 bucks to get but it was worth it. I don't know if I could have managed taking pump off and putting it back on at the beach. Maybe another time.
Review by Lynn, Berkshire, UK, added 26/06/2012: "Great"
My daughter went on an activity holiday (first time since she was diagnosed 18 months ago). My daughter had a brilliant time, thanks to your waterproof case she was able to swim plus loads of muddy activities wearing her pump. There are hundreds of patients children and adults going on holidays and they have to keep their pump dry. I hope you have plenty in stock!!
Review by Phyllis Powell-Hodgkins, USA, added 21/07/2011: Thank you...
"Thank you again for everything. You have no idea how happy my son will be to go in the water on vacation."
Review by Magnus (age 11) - living with Type One Diabetes treated with a Medtronic Insulin pump , added 21/07/2011: The Aquapac insulin pump protector is brilliant!
“The Aquapac insulin pump protector is brilliant! I used it to keep my pump dry when we went white water rafting in Nepal. Before we discovered the Aquapac we thought I would not be able to go on the three day rafting trip because of my pump. However Aquapac worked perfectly keeping the pump totally dry. We were camping on beaches at night and it also protected the pump from sand. Since then I have used it for skiing and sailing and now I feel I can do anything without worrying about my pump. Thank you for designing something so brilliant!”
